WIN A MAGICAL MADEIRA BREAK
A Three-night break for two including up to five rounds of golf!
One lucky TG reader is in with a chance of winning a fabulous three-night golf break for two people on the stunning island of Madeira, including up to five rounds of golf.
The Madeira archipelago – just a threeand- a-half-hour flight from London – is home to three breathtaking courses; two of them (Palheiro and Santo da Serra) are on Madeira itself, while the third, Porto Santo, is on the nearby island of the same name.
The prize includes three nights' accommodation for two at the five-star Meliã Madeira Mare on a B&B basis plus two Madeira Golf Passports. Flights are not included (available from £60 return).
The best way to enjoy the courses is with a Madeira Golf Passport – available from most hotels and golf clubs – which entitles you to five rounds of golf across the two "mainland" courses (our winner will receive two).
Robert Trent Jones Snr's 1991 redesign of Santo da Serra – which dates from 1937 – created a spectacular 27-hole complex in a beautiful natural landscape with views of Porto Santo and the bay of Machico, where Portuguese navigators first landed in 1419. The Machico and Desertas nines form the 6,825-yard championship course, on which the European Tour's Madeira Islands Open was held on 10 occasions.
The 6,656-yard Palheiro Golf opened in 1993 and sits within the stunning Palheiro Estate, which is more than 200 years old. The course meanders through maritime pines and woodland, garnished with lush, sub-tropical vegetation.
A 20-minute flight – or a two-and-a-half hour ferry – will cover the 27 miles between Madeira and the easternmost island, Porto Santo, home to Porto Santo Golfe, which hosted the Madeira Islands Open between 2009 and 2011.
Laid out by Seve Ballesteros, the 7,036-yard course has two distinct nines, spanning an area from dunes to sheer cliffs. You'll be staying in style too; the 220- room Meliã Madeira Mare has contemporary, maritime-influenced lines and blends in perfectly with its surroundings.
With breathtaking views over the Atlantic and access to the seafront promenade and a small beach, the Meliã Madeira Mare stands in the heart of the Lido zone, just 20 minutes from the airport. It also has three pools, a spa and a fitness centre.
Flights are not included (available from £60 return).
Ends December 18, 2019.Official Rules
